Several extinct species coexisted with, and in some cases evolved into their modern counterparts throughout the Pliocene and Pleistocene all over the world! Some notable extinct species are the herbivorous Cave Bears and the Etruscan bear which is believed to be the ancestor of the Cave Bears as well as Brown and Polar Bears.
