This Is a Beautiful tooth from Dakotaraptor steini, a huge true Dromaeosaur aka raptor from the Hell Creek Formation in Montana, USA! The tooth has a great tip, amazing serrations, and zero repair or restoration! It measures .4495 inches (11.4 mm) along its longest edge (straight line measurement) and .214 x .098 Inches (5.43 x 2.5 mm) at its base! It comes in a 1 inch gem jar for easy transport and display!

Even if you're not a paleontologist you've almost certainly heard of "Raptor" dinosaurs, a group of carnivorous dinosaurs turned Hollywood horror stars in the Jurassic Park franchise, gaining infamy rivaling the likes of T-rex and Triceratops! Raptors, or as they are properly known Dromaeosaurs, were small and lightly built, rarely exceeding the size of the human sized horrors of the movies. Most true raptors rarely exceeded 10 feet long, three feet tall, and 100 pounds. The infamous Velociraptor was greatly scaled up in size for the films and was actually about the size of the average raptor mentioned earlier. Also unlike the movies, Velociraptor is found only in Mongolia. Dakotaraptor on the other hand was a real life monster! Estimated to reach lengths of 18 feet and weigh over 700 pounds, Dakotaraptor was actually LARGER than the movie Velociraptor! As a Hell Creek dinosaur, it would have shared space with the likes of Triceratops, Edmontosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, and even T-Rex! It would have been a fierce predator, most likely hunting small to medium size dinosaurs like Thescelosaurus, Leptoceratops, and juveniles of larger dinosaurs like Edmontosaurus and Triceratops. Whether or not it hunted in packs is up for debate however, and the scarcity of its remains doesn't help decipher this mystery. Dakotaraptor is, in my opinion, the rarest dinosaur in the Hell Creek formation. It wasn't documented until 2015, and the OVERWHELMING majority of fossils on the market or in collections are misidentified fossils of other dinosaurs (usually Nanotyrannus). I can not stress enough how difficult it is to come by actual correctly identified fossils of this species which can only be identified through a combination of factors one needs a microscope to verify! See pictures above and more info below for the necessary information.

Also, if you see a small carnivorous dinosaur tooth from Morocco labeled as a "Raptor tooth", 999 times out of a 1000 it's Abelisaur (another group of small carnivorous dinosaur) and not from a true Raptor. True raptor fossils are extraordinarily difficult to come by with almost all "Raptor" teeth on the market being misidentified Moroccan Abelisaur teeth or just other small carnivorous dinosaur teeth making any true raptor fossil this a magnificent addition to any fossil collection from an infamous group of dinosaurs, let alone one of the rarest Raptors out there! A great opportunity to own a piece of a truly rare, terrifying, and iconic prehistoric predator!

VITAL INFORMATION FOR IDENTIFICATION:
Crown height (height from the base of the tooth to the top as it was positioned in the jaw): 10 mm
Crown Base length: 5.43mm
Crown Base width: 2.5 mm
Distal serration density (number of individual serrations on the side of the tooth facing the back): 4.5/ 1 mm (picture 8)
Mesial serration density (number of individual serrations on the side of the tooth facing the front): 7.66/ 1 mm (picture 9)

Some of you may be wondering why I'm going through all the trouble with the detailed measurements. That is what it takes to verify a tooth is from this species. I am not joking or exaggerating. Do not buy a "Dakotaraptor" from a seller who does not verify this information.
