Sauropods, also known as "long neck dinosaurs" were the largest of all dinosaurs and all animals to ever live on land! These iconic herbivores first appeared over 200 million years ago and lived throughout the rest of the Mesozoic era. They are known for their long necks and tails, small heads, large bodies, and thick pillar like legs. Even the smaller sauropods would rival a full grown elephant in size. Larger species could surpass 100 feet in length and over 80 TONS!
