Collection: Mammoth Relatives
Mammoths, and by extension elephants, belong to an order called Proboscideans. All of which looked very similar to modern elephants with stout bodies, trunks, and four pillar like legs. They differed with a wide array of tusks, skull shapes, and sizes. Proboscideans first appeared 60 million years ago and diversified into numerous groups including Mammoths, Mastodons, Deinotherids, Gomphotheres, Stegodontids, and modern elephants.
