The modern Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is the largest predatory fish alive today. It is also warm blooded unlike other fish and most other sharks. The Great White Shark grows to over 20 feet (6 meters) in length and feeds primarily on large fish, marine mammals, and smaller sharks. It first originated in the fossil record about 8 million years ago and is known for it's broad, heavily serrated, triangular teeth. Despite common misconception of Great Whites stalking all waters in search of human victims, the species doesn't prey on humans or like our taste and "attacks" are usually cases of these highly intelligent sharks investigating the strange out of place creature with the part of its body that has the most sensory receptors, and also just so happens to have rows of razor sharp teeth. While Great White numbers have started to rise in recent years do to conservation efforts the species is still endangered and fossil teeth are also quite rare even compared to other large predatory prehistoric sharks like Megalodon, making fossil Great White Teeth a rare collectible and a must for any shark tooth collection! And because it's a fossil, you know that no sharks were harassed to acquire it!
