This is a beautiful authentic Mosasaur tooth from rare Mosasaur Gavialimimus almaghribensis from the late Cretaceous of Morocco! The tooth measures 2.17 inches (5.51 cm) with a huge complete root and zero repair or restoration which is very hard to find on Moroccan teeth of this size! It comes in a double sided clear display case for easy transport and display!
Mosasaurs are huge carnivorous marine reptiles that lived alongside dinosaurs from 101 to 66 million years ago. Some approached 60 feet (18 meters) in length! They aren't dinosaurs but are close relatives of snakes and lizards. Gavialimimus was a medium size Mosasaur that grew to lengths of 20 feet. I was slender and lightning fast, preying on smaller fish and squid! It itself was also prey for larger Mosasaurs such as Thalassotitan. It is well know for it's ornate, ridged teeth and being one of the rarer Mosasaurs found in late Cretaceous Morocco.
Makes a fantastic gift for science enthusiasts, a great teaching aide, or addition to any fossil collection!
