This is a BEAUTIFUL, Top Quality, natural death assemblage of 16 Onnia trilobites from the Ordovician of Morocco! Trilobites are arthropods that lived from 521 to 252 million years ago. Some would roll into a ball like roly polies. They come in many shapes and sizes, with all sorts of shapes protruding from them including spines! The largest trilobite is 1.4 inches while the overall specimen is 6.75 inches! They all show fantastic detail and prep work!
The only repair occurred as the trilobite was being prepped. Like all Moroccan trilobites the fossil was discovered by breaking a rock open, and breaking through the fossil, and gluing the rock back together as the trilobite is exposed by prep work.
Fake Moroccan trilobites plague the fossil market, a close-up of the specimen was taken with a microscope to prove that it is authentic and not resin.
Natural death assemblages are extraordinarily rare and very often are either just a few individuals or a fake made by taking multiple fossils and gluing them together. This is a truly fantastic and authentic assemblage with this many individuals is a very rare piece to come by and an incredible, museum quality addition to any collection of a truly alien prehistoric creature TWICE as old as the oldest Dinosaur!
