Mosasaurs are huge carnivorous marine reptiles that lived alongside dinosaurs from 101 to 66 million years ago. Some approached 60 feet (18 meters) in length! They aren't dinosaurs but are close relatives of snakes and lizards. Hainosaurus boubker is a huge species of Mosasaur that was named in 2022 that could grow to lengths of 40 feet! It was the last of a group called the Tylosaurs, a subgroup that contained some of the largest Mosasaur species! It preyed on a variety of marine animals including turtles, large fish and sharks, Ammonites, and smaller Mosasaurs.
