This is a beautiful Tooth from Ankylosaurus magniventris, the infamous club-tailed armored dinosaur from the Hell Creek Formation in Carter County, Montana, USA! The tooth measures .29 Inches (.73 cm) with good cusps, a partial root, and no repair or restoration! It comes in a 1 inch gem jar for easy transport and display!
Ankylosaurids or “Armored Dinosaurs” are a group of plant eating dinosaurs that first appeared in the Late Jurassic about 165 million years ago. This iconic group of dinosaurs are known for being covered in thick boney plates and spikes, often being referred to as living tanks! Despite their infamy, Ankylosaurs are one of the rarest types of dinosaur fossils. Even in formations where this group is present, it’s rare for even 1% of identifiable dinosaur fossils to be attributable to them. Ankylosaurus is not only the most famous of the Ankylosaurids, but also believed to be the largest growing to over 25 feet long and weighing over 8 tons! Its infamous tail club, made of fused vertebrae and specialized armor plates, could swing in an arch of 100 degrees and generate enough force to crush to bones of even the mighty T-Rex!
