Ankylosaurids or “Armored Dinosaurs” are a group of plant eating dinosaurs that first appeared in the Late Jurassic about 165 million years ago. This iconic group of dinosaurs are known for being covered in thick boney plates and spikes, often being referred to as living tanks! The largest and most famous is Ankylosaurus, who could grow to over 25 feet long and weigh over 8 tons! There are two types of Ankylosaurids, Ankylosaurs and Nodosaurs. Ankylosaurs like Ankylosaurus had large clubs on the end of their tail while Nodosaurs did not. With or without clubs, Ankylosaurs were formidable animals and even large carnivores like T-Rex would be putting its life at risk attempting to hunt one! Despite their infamy, Ankylosaurs are one of the rarest types of dinosaur fossils. Even in formations where this group is present, it’s rare for even 1% of identifiable dinosaur fossils to be attributable to them. Denversaurus was a large Nodosaur who lived alongside its cousin Ankylosaurus as well as other infamous dinosaurs Triceratops, Pachycephalosaurus, and T-Rex! It grew to lengths of 20 feet long and over 3 tons!
A great opportunity to own a piece of not only one of the most iconic dinosaurs, but also one of the rarest!
