Hi all!

This Is a Beautiful Tyrannosaur tooth from the Late Cretaceous of the North Central USA! The tooth has great serrations and zero repair or restoration! It measures 1.678 inches (4.26 cm) slant length! It comes in a double sided clear display case for easy transport and display!

In the Late Cretaceous of North America, there were five well known species of Tyrannosaur; Daspletosaurus, Gorgosaurus, Albertosaurus, Nanotyrannus, and the infamous Tyrannosaurus Rex. These five species lived in mostly separate time periods before evolving into the next species. Daspletosaurus and Gorgosaurus lived together about 78-74 million years ago and could grow to about 30 feet. Albertosaurus descended from one of these about 71 million years ago and was about the same size if not slightly larger. Then about 68 million years ago T-Rex and Nanotyrannus are believed to have evolved from Albertosaurus with Nano experiencing a downgrading in size to less than 20 feet while T-Rex exploded in size reaching over 40 feet!

All Tyrannosaurs shed their teeth like sharks and grew in new ones and while it is possible to Identify these teeth to a specific species, this requires a very specific piece of information, where the tooth was found EXACTLY. With the exception of Nanotyrannus who has a distinct pinch in the middle of the tooth's base, teeth from the other four species are practically indistinguishable. Therefore in order to tell them apart you have to know how old the tooth is to a couple million years. This requires knowing what formation the tooth was found in as each formation has been dated to a very specific age range and in order to do that you have to know exactly where the tooth was found because the Tyrannosaur bearing formations are all right next to each other in the north central U.S. around Montana. Sadly since this information was lost on this tooth the best it can be IDed as is a Tyrannosaur tooth from the Late Cretaceous. Which is still really cool!

What ever it is you can be certain this tooth came from one of the most iconic ad fearsome families of predators to ever live!
